……… So our route has taken us through Big White in the Okanagan – great skiing for all abilities and all from one lovely compact village with ski in ski out accommodation if you want it. It really is worth a visit to experience some of the fantastic powder snow for which the area is famous. Intermediate & beginner runs are mixed with plenty for the more expert skier and apres ski life is on offer in the village if you want it.
Next we arrived in Silverstar – a gem of a village with it’s colourful buildings and milder temperatures – again there is something or everyone along with ski in ski out accommodation. For the adventurous, heli skiing is newly on offer here taking you high into the mountain ranges – or the more affordable option of Cat skiing, along with a whole range of expert runs nearer the village . There’s some great intermediate and beginner tree lined pistes on great powder snow.
There’s plenty of activities for the non skier in both Big White and Silverstar such as sleigh rides, ice skating and tubing – great fun.
Revelstoke was our next stop – for the hardcore skier, Revelstoke has plenty of expert runs along with heli skiing and cat skiing for real adrenaline junkies. A few intermediate and beginner runs are available. Stay at the newer village of Revelstoke Mountain resort at the base of the gondola, or a little further away in the larger town of Revelstoke.
Back towards the Rockies we then arrived in Kicking Horse with again plenty of powder snow and expert ski runs along with some intermediates and a beginner area – all centered around a small village right by the village gondola and lifts. Again heli skiing high in the Purcell Mountains is at the top of the list for the adventurous.
Our last stop is Banff – back in the heart of the wonderful Rocky Mountains. There’s some great skiing in the three areas of Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise that have received some fantastic snowfall just lately – and the village remains just as lovely as the last time we were here.
