For a totally different way to view one of the world’s natural wonders, then why not consider taking the TRAM. This has to be a unique experience and certainly has the feel of stepping back in time to an elegant way of travelling.
The Victoria Falls Steam Train Company has just launched two new tours – The Morning Bridge Tour and The Bridge Champagne Sunset Tour.
Both tours start at the 108 year old Victoria Falls Hotel where you stroll down to the Victoria Falls Station. After refreshments the 19th Century trams makes its gentle, twenty minute tour through Victoria Falls Town, out in to the bush (and the chance of seeing wildlife) and passing the Victoria Falls Rainforest on to its final destination – right in the middle of the Victoria Falls Bridge.
This bridge is 111metres above the mighty Zambesi River and the centre is the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It also offers spectacular views directly on to the face of the Falls themselves.
On the morning tour, once on the bridge you disembark for a full Historic Bridge Tour, which is full of facts, humour and drama. This tour takes you under the bridge and ends in the Bridge Information Centre. For those of you with an adventurous nature, you will have the chance to Bungee Jump, Bridge Swing or Bridge Slide!
The Sunset Tour has you disembarking at the same spot and then watching a display of stunt jumping by the Bungee Flying Squad before making your way to the Bridge Information Centre for a champagne refreshment and a short, theatrical presentation on the history of the bridge. You will then have time to relax and watch the African sunset overlooking the gorge and falls. Once again the offer of a Bungee Jump, Swing or Slide is open to those of you that need that extra buzz in your life. As the sun sets the tram will toot-toot you back for the return journey to Victoria Falls Station.
All this elegance, unique views and excitement for £50 per person. It has to be one of those “must do” activities when you are at Victoria Falls.
