Description

This itinerary is an excellent introduction to Botswana for the first time visitor; it can be adapted to suit your requirements and your budget

Day 1: Livingstone or Victoria Falls
Arrive in Livingstone (Zambia) or Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe). Choose from a hotel at Victoria Falls, or lodge nestling on the banks of the mighty Zambezi. A visit to the Falls is a must but choose the right time of the year if you want thundering water or quieter times if you want to do white water rafting or other such activities. A sunset cruise here is a must!
Two nights Victoria Falls

Day 3: Chobe National Park
Transfer via the Kazangula border crossing, and into Botswana. This crossing is the point where four countries meet – Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Enjoy a cruise on the Chobe River – and watch out for crocodiles, hippos and elephant. Take a light aircraft flight to the edge of the Chobe National Park. Learn about the unique nature of this extraordinary corner of our world, where as recently as the 1980’s subterranean movement caused the river course to change leaving the features we see today.
Three nights Chobe National Park

Day 6: Moremi Game Reserve
Transfer by air or road to the Moremi Game Reserve, which lies within the Delta with a rich variety of wildlife waiting to be discovered. Large herds of elephant dominate the reeds and dry islands but with plenty of other animals sharing the space. The predators are numerous and the birds life of amazing variety.
Two nights Moremi Game Reserve

Day 8: Okavango Delta
Go into the Delta itself, with accommodation at a water based lodge. Here, one of your main forms of transport will be by mokoro or dug out canoe, motor boat and 4×4 for the drier parts. You also have the chance to safari on foot with an armed ranger or take part in a night drive to try to find all those animals that come out after dark.
Three nights Okavango Delta

Day 11: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
A light aircraft will take you from the Delta, via Maun, and on to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. The contrast to the lushness of the Delta could not be more stark. Huge vistas of plains and salt pans are interspersed with rocky outcrops and islands of green. The night sky will never be  clearer.
Two nights Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

Day 13: Depart Maun
Depart Maun today for the onward or homeward journey.
