South Africa this summer – real value
If you are still wondering about where to go this summer, then South Africa should be one at the top of your list. I know that it is their winter but for most parts of the country it is their most pleasant weather – not so hot that you lose your energy and clear sunny days. In addition, in Kruger and most other Parks where the rains come in their summer (our winter) the bush is drying out and therefore not so thick. This makes game viewing easier. Also the animals have to rely on the permanent water for their drinks, which means that they concentrate along rivers and waterholes.
It is also a great time to find bargains for your trip with prices reduced and rates at their lowest for the year. Specials are often to be found – such as stay for/pay for and additional extras like transfers, park fees etc being included.
Cape Town does have rain during this time but is mild and and the sun shines often. The city has plenty of indoor attractions such as museums, markets, aquariums, malls and excellent restaurants for those showery moments. And the rates in the hotels are excellent at this time of the year.
If your interests include wildlife, there are parks across the country with the Kruger being a major draw. For those with an interest in history, then the Battlefields in Kwazulu Natal are beautiful but haunting destinations.
Finally, why not finish your trip on the beach in St. Lucia in the north of the eastern seaboard. Here you will find long beautiful white beaches that are deserted. As this further north and in the Indian Ocean, you will find the water temperatures warm and inviting.
May to September are truly great times to be in South Africa and all the more attractive for prices being at their lowest.
