Departing on the 24th. February 2014 this seven day Serengeti safari visits the key National Parks of Northern Tanzania and is at a very reasonable priced; especially as you will be in the Serengeti National Park as the wildebeest migration is at its height.
February is also the month that the wildebeest calf – a time of nervousness for the animals and a time of plenty for the many predators that hunt them.
The safari starts at Mount Meru Game Lodge, close to Mount Kilimanjaro, giving you great photo opportunities, provided the skies are clear. Then your next night’s stay is in the Tarangire National Park, home of giant baobab trees and large herds of elephant. Your lodge overlooks the plains of the Park. You move on to Lake Manyara National Park famous for its tree climbing lions and at the foot of an escarpment of the Rift Valley. Your night stay here is in a hotel on the rim of the Rift Valley and looking down on the Park.
This is followed by 2 nights in the Serengeti looking for the migrating animals. Seeing the plains full of wild life is one of Natures spectacular events. This is then followed by a 2 night stay overlooking the Ngorongoro Crater, considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world. En route to the Ngorongoro you will have the chance to stop at Olduvai Gorge where human remains where discovered dating back millions of years.
A whole day in the Crater will give you a great chance to see the Big 5 again. The next day head back to Arusha for your flight home or extend your stay with time on the beach at either Zanzibar or Pemba.
