Polar Bear Season is coming to an end for 2012

The next few days are the last chance to see the polar bears before they set out over the ice pack around the Hudson Bay, Manitoba, Canada and start their annual hunt for seals. Our own Helen is actually there as I write this and I can only begin to imagine how exciting it must be – not jealous you will understand!!
It may seem strange but if you want to book to see the world’s largest land predator than you need to start planning now. It is one of those destinations that have limited availability on the best tours and they do fill quickly.
One of the best ways to see the bears up close is to book a trip on the Tundra Buggy. This huge vehicle makes its way to the hot spots for the Polar bears, giving you a chance to see them in their natural habitat. The animals are used to the Tundra Buggy and indeed often come right up to it to explore, giving those on board a chance for stunning photos. Make even more of your tour by staying overnight at Cape Churchill on the Tundra Buggy Lodge. Imagine waking up with a polar bear just through the glass from you, as happened to two of our clients. What a way to start the day.
For those of you that would like to make the most of your camera, then a Polar bear photo safari would be for you. The best months for these are October and November. A thirty minute flight takes you deep in to the wilderness and a very special lodge, whose location is ideal for photographing the bears on the ice and on the snow. With caribou and arctic fox also around, you should have plenty of photo opportunities.
Get in touch to ensure that 2013 is the year that you have that unforgettable experience of a close encounter with a polar bear.
