Peter is back from Kenya

I (Peter) have just returned from Kenya which is experiencing good “short” rains. Indeed some areas that have been suffering from drought now have to combat floods and rivers breaking their banks. Rain in Africa is almost always good news, especially for the farmers and subsistence farmers and for us in the UK, it does mean that the vegetables and flowers that are in our super markets should be plentiful.
From a personal perspective, it did mean that the roads were rougher than usual and we did have to work harder at the game viewing. Even allowing for that we saw plenty of elephant, buffalo, three different types of giraffe and plains animals in good numbers. The cats seemed to be sheltering from us and the rain. The benefit of the rain was the greenness and the flowers in areas usually dry and dusty.
Kenya remains a wonderful destination, matching stunning wildlife with unbeatable scenery.
