Bryce Canyon
Today I (Heather Long) will be leaving Experience Holidays after 10 wonderful years, heading for a new life in Scotland. Here I will reflect on one of my first trips, a special trip to the Grand Circle in the USA an area that has remained a favourite of mine.

The treasures of the Grand Circle make an easy self-drive itinerary, covering a 10-day to 2-week holiday and offer an uncrowded, well-paced view of some of the best scenery in the USA. Here’s an itinerary suggestion:

UK to Grand Junction, Colorado
Referred to as the gateway to the Grand Circle, Grand Junction in Southwest Colorado is in the heart of the wine country and close to the Colorado National Monument with towering sandstone monoliths and deep canyons.

Grand Junction to Durango
A pure Wow drive – travel the million-dollar highway, one of the most scenic drives in North America and arriving at the home of the Durango and Silverton Railroad.

Durango to Mesa Verde National Park
Far View Lodge sits on a high shoulder of the Mesa Verde and I remember being so happy to be here – absolutely beautiful and amazingly peaceful.

Mesa Verde to Monument Valley, Utah
Monument Valley is a scenic region encompassing 2,000 square miles and a favourite Hollywood back drop.

Monument Valley to Lake Powell
A beautiful lake resort with numerous sporting activities including to boating and golfing.

Lake Powell to Grand Canyon
No introduction required for this wonder of the world – a night here will ensure you capture the sunset in the evening and the sunrise in the morning, the different times of day capture different shadows and colours of the Canyon – amazing.

Grand Canyon to Zion National Park
Zion National Park is nature at its most eloquent – deep canyons and intermittent waterfalls provide a stunning backdrop.
Zion National Park to Bryce National Park
Enjoy nature’s erosive handiwork as the sun sets on a vast array of fingers, spires and pinnacles – some extremely delicate, others massive and sturdy.
Bryce National Park to Moab
Moab is a base for visiting Arches National Park, Capitol Reef National Park and the Canyonlands – what a location! Easy drive to Grand Junction to conclude.
Experience Holidays can pick any or all of the above destinations to make a super holiday itinerary to suit – we can even add extra destinations such as Las Vegas, Sedona or Denver. Please give the team a call with your wish list.

And to any previous clients that are reading, it was lovely to send you on your special trips and I wish you may more happy travels for the future… … …
