Gorilla’s in Rwanda

A few years ago, I was lucky enough to take part in a wonderful safari to Botswana, and to meet a talented guide and photographer with whom we have remained friends. I have received an email from him regarding Gorilla’s in Rwanda, and I quote:
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is a highlight for many of our guests, and is often combined with a game viewing safari elsewhere in Africa. An essential part of these treks is the purchase of permits, which channels revenue back into the conservation of these incredible creatures, of which a mere 600-700 remain. Currently, permits cost $500 per person, and for all bookings made for this year and paid for before June 1st 2012, it will remain unchanged. Permit prices will rise to $750 for 2013 bookings. This is a substantial increase and is unfortunately beyond our control.
We wanted to let you know about this in case you’re considering a trip of this nature – it may be well worth your while to book before June 1st 2012 and make the most of the existing price.
