For those of you that have more than a passing interest in US history, then a drive through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Area is a must for you. Just 180 miles long and 75 miles wide, this is not the longest road trip that you will take. But there are so many places to see and explore that you will take just as long as some of the other iconic road trips.
Stretching from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Virginia, this area has 9 Presidential Homes, 18 National and State Parks, 57 Historic Towns and Villages and 100’s of Civil War Battlefields to tempt you to break your journey.
This beautiful landscape has seen the Revolutionaries, Civil War soldiers, abolitionists and freedom seekers pass through. It is difficult not to get carried away by the atmosphere and history of these places.
